So after 9 years the sequel to Team Fortress Classic comes swinging out of nowhere to rescue it from the likes of the Phantom console and Duke Nukem Forever. And boy does it ever...
Ditching the realistic look for the heavily stylized Pixar look. But I guess that's moot if this is the first time you've ever heard of the Team Fortress franchise.
Team Fortress 2 plays on a class based shooter gameplay featuring 9 classes each with unique styles of play, personalities and specialized roles so teams will have to vary in classes in order to be successful
and for the classes
Offensive!
Scouts - The scout is the fastest moving of all the classes and has the unique abilities to count as 2 people when capturing a point and the ability to double jump to get to places most classes cannot.
Soldier - (Note: Image is misleading in that he's holding grenades, there are no grenades in TF2) The Soldier is the sole offensive class with devastating long range power thanks to his RPG he totes around. This bad boy will take you out in a single hit if he shoots out a crit rocket and that same rocket lets him jump to high places.
Pyro - This guy is the 2nd fastest of the offensive classes and packs a whallop. If someone lit aflame by the Pyro's flamethrower doesn't find a medkit or medic or a dispenser it is almost certainly a kill for the Pyro. Unless it's a heavy, that fucker has a crap load of HP -_-
Defensive!
Demo Man - This depressed black Scottish Cyclops alcoholic is the Turret killer of this game. Tied with the spy breaking defensive lines it's also potent at defense with it's remote sticky mines making enemies hesitate when pursuing or entering an area with a demo man around. Also the demoman can "jump" by setting off a sticky bomb underneath himself the same way a soldier uses a rocket to leap high up.
Heavy - Ah the Heavy, armed with his mini gun and boasting the highest HP of any class in the game can wreck the shit of any player that has the unfortunate luck of crossing his line of sight. When paired with a medic it gets worst. When paired with a medic with an ubercharge that makes the pair invincible for ten seconds, it's just plain evil. Fortunately most heavy players seem to have tunnel vision when they're shooting up empty air and when flanked they turn stupid. When turning corners rev up your minigun with the right mouse click so you don't windup in the middle of a firefight.
Engineer - My personal favorite. Not so strong on it's own (though the wrench seems to crit like crazy) but it's strength lies in what it can build.
The Sentry Gun
This bad boy is the heavy and soldier paired in one neat lil package when fully upgraded and most classes brown themselves the moment they hear the signature "BEEP BEEP" when they round a corner. Just be sure to sit on top of your gun to stop spies from setting there sappers. God damn spies...
Support Class!
Medic - Armed with his Heal Hose and AIDs syringe gun makes him invaluable to teamplay. His Heal gun can build up an Uber charge that will make himself and whoever he's targeting invincible provided they stay close to each other. When you see this man next to a demo/heavy/pyro ignore aiming at them and jump the medic. For the love of God jump the god damned medic! His existence will spell disaster with his prolonged survival but once he's gone the rest should fall easily, unless you happen to be alone then you're boned.
Spy - I hate and love this bastard so much...On one hand he ruins my shit as an Engineer with his sapper and his backstab is an instakill to any class, in particular heavies and snipers and medics and a good one will continue to evade detection like a ghost. But dammit all, playing as a Spy is so god damned fun. with the ability to cloak and disguise himself as a class on the other team I bet you will become paranoid of anyone if you ever encounter a good spy.
Sniper - A sniper, with a rifle. What? wanted something detailed? Ok fine. He can't snipe like those fucking prostars in Counter-Strike. the Sniper in TF2 has to keep his crosshairs on his target for a bit to build up a charge on his gun that increases the damage of your shot and only headshots are instant kill. Because they spend so much time scoped they are spy fodder or anyone that gets on their flanks really.
